10 Most Censored Countries

In this 2012 report, the Committee to Protect Journalists identifies the ten most censored countries in the world. Eritrea tops the list as the world’s worst censor, followed closely by North Korea, Syria, and Iran. CPJ reports that the ten authoritarian countries profiled employ a wide range of censorship techniques from sophisticated Internet filtering and satellite blocking to crude tactics such as imprisonment and violence.
