The Arab ethnic minority in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) has been subjected to a long history of political, economic and cultural discrimination by successive Iranian governments. This report from the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) examines these and other human rights violations such as the state surveillance, torture, denial of due process rights, execution and extraterritorial harassment of Arab activists and their families. The detailed testimony in this report demonstrates that the IRI’s violations of the fundamental rights of these citizens, who call themselves Ahwazi Arabs, have fostered an increasingly fraught relationship.
