Freedom in the World 2013: Democratic Breakthroughs in the Balance

In the 39th edition of its annual Freedom in the World report, Freedom House ranks the status of civil liberties and political rights in 195 countries and 14 territories. Freedom House documented notable gains in 16 countries including Libya, Tunisia, and Burma, and significant declines in 27 countries including Mali, Russia, and Syria. The report includes an overview of the global situation, as well as individual country reports and the survey's methodology.
