The 1994 genocide in Rwanda left the country’s population and infrastructure devastated. Up to one million people died and as many as 250,000 women were raped. This guide provides an overview of the post-genocide justice and reconciliation process including the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission. This overview can be helpful for other post-conflict situations seeking to establish justice and reconciliation.
